C02 and Regulator setup question

Finally getting around to setting up my Korallin 1502 Ca reactor and have a question about the Regulator attaching to the C02 tank. 1st off - Got this complete setup from marine depot....

The deluxe regulator came with 2 platic washers attached to it. No instructions what so ever about what they are or where they should be used. It seems pretty clear that they are a type of washer and they fit perfectly onto the regulator. The store that filled my CO2 tank said that I needed to use a special type of washer (its grey and definitely not plastic) and gave me one. So the question is, do I use the plastic one, the one I was given when the tank was filled, or BOTH? I hate it when companies fail to provide a parts list and diagram of how ALL parts go together. Drives me nuts :evil:

I would just use the one plastic one provided by the manufacturer for now. I believe that is what I did. I have the same set up. The welding supply places typically do give new washers with a refill for two reasons. One, its a good idea to replace them with every so often because they get compressed and eventually wear out.
Two, the washers get lost on job sites and it their courtesy to make sure you have a washer when you hook your tank up.

Only use one washer at a time. You can use any one you want.

Thanks Trido! I'll use the plastic one that was provided and make sure I keep the the extra. I'll replace the washer when I get the tank filled again. Thanks again. I'm sure I'll be reading some of the Korallin 1502 setup threads shortly!

PS. How long does your CO2 tank usually last? I got a 5 gallon tank because I only have 60 gallons of water and not heavily stocked with SPS. Not to mention its the only one that fits in my stand :lol: .

3 to 4 months. It really depends on how much your reactor use.

I have been counting 14BPM since early December. I will let you know when I run dry.
