i picked up a blood shrimp from my lfs today as soon as i put it in the tank it went and found a hiding place and i havent seen it since, is this normal behavior for a shrimp and do they tend to loose there shyness after a few days in the tank or do they primarly hide out thx

Do you mean Lysmata debelius? They do tend to be reclusive.
It should come out during feeding time but will normally spend most of its time in caves or under overhangs,

Mine never came out unless I wait watch the tank for 6 hours, and may get a quick look for about 2 seconds. :(

They are from deeper waters so they don't acclimate too much to our bright reef type lighting. They will often stay hidden in the shoadows, only coming out briefly to grab some food during feeding time then scurry back into the shadows.

I only see mine once a month.

I think you'd see them more if you had more than one.

I know a guy who liked them so much, he bought twenty of them 8O .

Too bad he bought a bird wrasse later. 8O 8O . What an idjit.
