Just bought a Aqua Macro Skimmer and its pulling stuff out the tank fine but the air intake whistling is driving me nuts. Having been used to air pump driven skimmers, to hear the volume of noise of the air being sucked in is a complete surprise. There is a plastic 2 hole tube which I assume is suppose to be an air silencer which is causing the annoying whistling. Any ideas on how to silence this thing without losing too much bubble production ?Pic below is similiar but cant find anything else on this skimmer anywhere other than their company website so anyone else buy one of these ?Thanks guys !![/img]

I don't have experience with this skimmer, but the air suction noise is a common problem amongst needle wheel skimmers (or venturis). One solution is to run a very long soft tubing to silence it. Sometimes you need to "step up" or "step down" the tubing size at the end of the run, but you can fine tune it so the whistle or whirling sound is minimized.
