How do you adjust your skimmer?

For a few months trying to adjust ASM G-3 and for a couple of weeks - ASM Mini for another tank - no success so far.

Each time after emptying cup, the same settings produce immediate overflow or nothing at all for a days.
Each time after this have to make riser pipe adjustments - 10-15 times, in order to produce any skimmate.

Water level in the sump is the same +/- 1/4", tanks are overloaded with nutrients, need efficient skimming, not a half-cup in a week or nothing at all.

Can they be adjusted to work efficiently at all - as is, without modifications?

Every time you clean the skimmer cup and turn it back on it will get a surge of air bubbles and water causing it to over flow. The best way to deal with this is to lower the water level for a few minutes and then bring the water/ bubble line up to just below the throat of the collection cup. Leave it there for a week and see how it goes. Also My G-3 required me to clean the venturi out with a coat hanger about once a month. It built up with salt hindering air flow. I only modified my G-3 because I have its capability rating maxed out and needed just a little more.
