A tank like the one you mentioned would be beautiful.

Thanks, I do think that when I have the opportunity, I will create this tank. It might be a while though. :D

96x48x36 fowlr/reef. I would like to attempt something like the zonal system Steve Tyree writes about using multiple sumps. I am leaning towards a Red Sea biotope or maybe Sri Lanka. I will have to decide on powder blue or sohal tangs. That wil be the determining factor. It will be home built using plywood, steel and I am looking for a place to buy starphire glass that is laminated to 1" at least in thickness. I have all the tank pieces except the glass. I have a nice basement with about 300sq ft for the tank and fish room behind it. Isolated room conditioning, I plan on dehumidification like Sanjay is doing. Electronic MH on moving rails and moonlighting. PLC controls for the lighting and pumps. The plan for water flow is a reversing flow using electric valves to change the inlfow and out flow directions like the tides. I want the pumps to be on variable drives to control the flow rates.

Love that idea.

My dream tank would consist of a 48 by 48 by 36"high, and it would be lit by a single 1000 watt MH, and four other 400 watt MH's for dawn and dusk. The 1000 w would come on for four hours in the middle of the day. For fish, I would have a school of Pictilis anthias, a pair of Regal Angelfish, a pair of Watanabei Angelfish, a pair of C. bathyphilus and a harem of C. adornatus. I would also have a bed of 4-5 Tridacna clams right in the center of the 1-2" sandbed.

My dream tank would be relatively small...at maybe 72 x 30 x 30, 'spotlight' halides, a 60 gal sump, and a 60gal grow-out/refugium tank. But the fish list will be:

pair of centropyge boylei (doesn't have to be a pair, but I *will* own a peppermint someday, dammit)

apolemichthys arcuatus angel

pair of tinkeri butterflies

a school of ventralis anthias

a few gobies and blennies

harem of fairy wrasse (rhomboid? lineatus?)

and a rhinopias frondosa in the growout tank :D
