Lumenarc Reflectors for HQI

I like it. I want a couple myself but cant justify it yet. It looks like you needed one just for the reason of it giving you a chance to clean your equipment. WOW those VHOs were dirty in the first pic.

IIRC the new style PFOs are specular reflectors like the Lumenarcs (smooth surface). The old PFOs are diffuse reflectors (dimpled surface).

If you have a new style PFO and a small tank, I wouldn't expect to see a huge gain going to the Lumenarc. If you have the old style, then going to a new style PFO or a Lumenarc would be a big improvement as mentioned.

The lumenarc will give much better coverage over a large tank, but with a tank your size, personally I don't think there'd be much benefit to spending the extra money.

Yeah, the regular DE pendents from PFO and Sunlight are usually about $40-$50 cheaper than the Lumenarc pendents.

If you are putting these in a hood (or dont care about looks) and are using 250s the price is minimal. Unforunately for me, they did not have these available For DE (which was important to me) last year. I paid $95 each for my 250w PFO pendants.

For the LIII it says that PFO conections are available at no extra charge. On a couple other models a cord is shown. I would find it odd if they offer a cord on only a few of their pendants and not all.

both the Reef optixIII and the Lumenarc mini's come with socket and cord, and UV glass.

Just FYI for anyone interested in them, I emailed Reef Exotics and they confirmed that the reflector-only DE setup that Duane linked does come with sockets and cord.

Mogul here, though. Their mogul mini lumenarc is $115 plus tax at reef exotics. So, how much would a mini PFO reflector ("new version") for moguls cost? I can't seem to find it on google... :?

Do you guys know if the standard PFO or SLS wire hanger threads will fit into the eye bolt holes? How do you like the quality of these? Do you think the HQI model would look good above my rimless 30x30 cube? I was originally looking to purchase the SLS Lumenmax 3 but saw that Lumenarc is now selling their own and thought I'd check it out. Also, in the pic on the previous page it appears the bulb bracket is bent or angled. Is this the case?

I dont get what you are asking? The bulb fits in there fine. There are 2 eye bolts that screw into the top of the pendant.
