placing return in sump

instead of your return pimp being stuck to the side of the sump can it be stuck to the bottom with the outlet facing up? just my pump is very noisy so i was wanting to try placing it on the deck

yes its submersible,should it be humming or should i hardly be able to hear it when the door is closed? its 2000lph

At 528GPH it should be pretty quiet although we all have different perceptions of what a quiet pump is. Even a power head makes a little bit of noise. Alot of reefers put their submersible pumps on a piece of mouse pad in the bottom of the sump. You may also want to try to use some flex rubber hose for the first foot and then connect that to the PVC pipe.

the whole pipe is flexi rubber, and i thought my v2 400 skimmer was loud but when i turn off the return and close the door i cant hardly hear the skimmer?

If it makes you feel any better my CL pump resonates through the walls of my whole 4 bedroom house.
