Those who use kalkwasser in their fresh top off water do you use the same "saturated" amount? Or less? that is to say 2 teaspoons per gallon.

I do, but I run all my top off water through a kalk stirrer.

I used to saturate mine, though I don't offhand remember the proportions.

Mine goes through a kalk reactor so I don't know the mixer.

Testing is the key.

Start off with 1/2 tsp per gal and test. If it is not keeping up with demand in your tank increase to a max of 2 tsp per gal in 1/2 tsp steps

Never put some thing in your tank with being able to test the levels.

I use 2 tsp per gal and still need to add Ca on the weekends.

I run mine saturated. Kalk is a balanced additive, so it won't usually, in and of itself, increase any level. It can keep up with Ca and alk demands if their is a low load on the system.

I hope you're planning to drip, though.

The funny thing Anthony Calfo actually promotes doing a one shot super saturated dunk late at night. I really don't know what would be the difference between this and having a less saturated version.
