I just added a torch coral to my tank 30min ago, and my four peppermint shrimp are going after it. Is this something that is normal with these little buggers?

It's not normal behavior, although there could be hitchhikers on the torch that the shrimps like. Once the coral acclimates and is healthy, the shrimps are unlikely going to bother it. In the meanwhile, you might want to somehow enclose it so the shrimps don't stress it too much.

The shrimp have already devoured half of one head. I saw parts of my new coral being torn off and tossed aside... just fed the tank and will see if this helps. Thanks Len :D

Eek. I've seen peppermints go after zoanthids and other smaller polyps, but nothing as large as a torch. Little bastards they are :?
