Project for Friday! I put the final coats of stain on the canopy, and did a leak test on my overflow box. The big time consuming job was to tape and paint the back of the tank. While I was doing that, my new skimmer arrived! It's a Euro-Reef RS-80 made of extruded acrylic. $180 shipped! A little faster than I expected.

Those are nice little skimmers. I had one like that (older version different name same size) on my 60.

Perhaps one day I will upgrade and buy a book called "Really wicked cool tank build FOR DUMMIES".....   Then maybe I will have a shot..

Hey, thanks, and neither do I! The canopy building was a nightmare to watch. I learned a lot as I went. Fortunately it's a very quick (and forgiving) learning curve. Likewise, cutting glass is much much easier than people make it out to be. If you're ever considering it, just try it!

That's kinda what I intended with this thread. ;) If you want to send me a check go right ahead though.

Very nice work. I read through earlier this week and surely missed the size of the tank. Can you humor the lazy guy and type it out again?

Hoo boy. This tank has been suspended indefinitely, I think. I've got so much going on with the new job.

Cancel that! I've got live rock in this tank now, with a certain ridiculously expensive firefish. ;) I've finally decided on doing non-photosynthetic corals and other inverts, so the lighting is a couple 13w 50/50 PCs. I plan on doing heavy feedings of live baby brine, cyclop-eeze, phytoplankton, fish eggs, rotifers, daphnia, microworms, and whatever else I can get my hands on. To fit with that theme I'm going to have small zooplanktivorous fish from deepwater.

Anyhow, here is the return plumbing. The first photo is from up top, the second is from below. Hardly noticeable, which I love. :)

What's the open-top-powerhead for? :)

More pictures, I say! :P

The top popped off when I dropped it once, and I never looked back! I'm just using it to get a little extra flow until everything's nice and settled down.

One upside of setting up the return like this--when I turn my pump off the water level in the sump only rises a half inch or so. 8)

Don't worry. I am the antithesis of Len. I will show you the down, the dirty, the ugly algae, and with camera phone quality. And your asking will increase (rather than delay) the chances I'll take pictures. :P

Making good progress Matt. :D So did you keep your nano aquarium as well, or are you putting it all in this one?
