I've got a Red Sea Wavemaster Pro (or whatever it's called)....

For some reason, a couple of weeks ago, one of the outlets quit working. Now, all of a sudden, a second outlet is not working.

I've contacted Red Sea Fish Pharm, but don't expect to get too much of a response (I've had it for over a year, which is the warranty term).

Any idea what may be causing this?? I've popped the cover to see if I can see any corrosion and/or visible problems, but everying appears to be fine.

Outlet 1 and 4 work fine. Outlets 2 and 3 have some power going to them (which all of the outlets seem to have some power going to them at all times), but when the "light comes on" there is no change in voltage (or at least not enough to kick the powerhead on).

Weird.....anyone have any ideas??? I hate to spend over $100 on a piece of equipment for it to flake out on me down the road.

Thanks,
Eboman

Sorry to hear that. It sounds like part of the switching mechanism, possibly a resistor, is defective. I don't think this is anything you can fix on your own. Did Red Sea offer any warranty or service? If not, you might want to contact the store you bought it from (they might offer an exchange). I had one of these wavemakers and it worked well for the 2-3 years I was using it.

I'm still waiting to hear back from Red Sea to see if there's anything they can do to help me out.

I actually inherited it from a buddy of mine who decided to build his own FOWLR tank a couple of years ago and then decided he didn't much care for the hobby and gave me everything he had (cool guy!!).

I'm sure it's out of warranty. But if it is something as simple as replacing a resistor on the circuitboard, then I'm hoping I can figure it out. Looking at the "guts" of the thing, there's not too much inside that can go wrong and I'm pretty handy with the ol' soldering iron. However, I don't know enough about electronics to "diagnose" the problem.

I'll keep everyone posted. The wavemaker is nice (when it works). I'm hoping to use it on my new 210 with some modded MaxiJets (which is next on my list of projects). I'm taking the set up slow, since I don't think the tank will ever move again once I get water/sand/rocks in it.

Thanks,
Eboman
