My husband and I are moving from PA to SC.

I have 3 tanks total, 2 fresh water (10 gallon community and 35 gallon with a 6" oscar and a 4 " pleco) and 55 gallon reef tank with a carpet anemone, tube anemone, toadstool and mushroom corals, 2 clowns, 1 tang, 1 gramma, 1 cardnal, various snails and hermit crabs and 50 lbs of live rock.

Needless to say these fish are my "babies". I've had them for years and I really want to bring them with us.

Has anyone ever moved their fish? Will I need to recycle my tank once I get to SC and if so where can I keep my pets in the meantime? Do you think it would be less tramatic to ship them or drive them?

Any suggestions would be greatly appriecated!

i would box the fish, snails, rock up like you would if you planned to
ship it. the more water inside the bags inside the insulated cartons
the better.

as soon as you arrive start setting up the 35 gallon as a fish only
tank. just get the water and salt in there with a few pumps. get the
temp right and stick in a skimmer. wait as long as you dare and get
the fish in there.

you might buy premixed saltwater instead of making your own.
less shock the better.

once you know the fish will live, start recuring the rock in the smaller
tanks. once cured start adding to the larger tank piece by piece?

try some variation of this plan?

good luck!

could you call a LFS and ask to rent space in a tank for a small fee?
ship the fish to them and pick them up a week later?

they should know how to handle incoming fish pretty well right?

Where in SC?

It would be a lot easier if you had a tank set up at your new house and all you had to worry about was moving the fish and maybe the rock.
