OK. Im new to corals and have a few beginner corals that I have picked out (from what I have seen and read these are good beginners).
I need you guys to tell me what food to feed them (brand)?
How you feed them?
If you keep any of these tell me some stuff on them.
And where you get them (online source).

Candy Cane Coral (Caulastrea furcata)- brine shrimp, micro-plankton (brand)

Open Brain Coral (Trachyphyllia geoffroyi)-

Plate Coral, Short Tentacle (Fungia repanda)-good on food need info and what you think of this.

Brain Coral, Pineapple (Favites spp.)- micro-plankton

Sorry about all the questions, but I don’t want to mess up (if thats a bad thing  ) .

My suggestion is for you to get familiar with the search feature here, and use it for research as there are many good threads here. Also, you can simply google search those corals and you will come across a lot of information that way.

I have used the search thing here, and I can never find what I want.

I have looked on the net but I like to get personal opinions.

They all look ggod to me except the gorgonian. You need to be careful with these some are photosysthetic some are not. IIRC the colorful ones are non. The need a fair amount of indiredt flow. The other are all good beginner corals. For the LPS you can feed them directly is you like. Mysis shrinp is a good choise. As far as the capanellia I had one and never feed it directly.

The gorgonian I was never to sure about, so ill take that one off my list.

To feed them do I use tongs or some thing like that.

And I only know of Mysis shrimp in frozen cubes, is that the one you where talking about?
Mysis shrimp are good for all of them? What about the micro-plankton and marine snow (what is marine snow when you say marine snow I think of some white dry flake food).

microplankton- I have seen a brand (cant remember name) its called micro-vite (ermm) is that the micro-plankton.

I've seen a lot of people who know a lot about aquaria be very scathing about marine snow. I'd avoid it.

So if I get Microplankton and Mysis shrimp that should be good for feeding them all correct?

and good lighting. i also use "formula B" and flake foods to feed the fish, so i assume some of the nutrients from those 2 sources get to the corals too....i dunno.
but yes, the mysis and phyto are the only 2 foods i directly use for the corals and they seem happy and healthy.

O.K. Thanks…
From other forms I have found on the net they say that the watts per gallon rule is junk.

How do I know im good on light. I think im good just by placing the high light ones near the top, and low light ones near the bottom and so on.

6700k 420nm
10000k 460nm

130 watts
29 gallon

Sorry no one responded about your lighting. You've got enough lights for the corals you are intending to keep. It's probably considered "moderate" lighting but will be fine for most LPS and softies.

The caulastrea, trachyphyllia and fungia will all eat small pieces of meaty food. I prefer to feed them mysis shrimp. The favites and capnella rely on much smaller foods and I don't feed them myself. :)

What brand of Microplankton should I get :?:
DT'S Live Marine Phytoplankton Premium Reef Blend and DT's Natural Reef Diet Oyster Eggs are my personal faves. your mileage may vary.
