tank level question

i was messing around with my power heads today and i noticed that the water is about 1 or 2 8ths of a inch higher on one side of my tank than the other.
does this definatly mean that the tank is unlevel or could the overflows have someting to do with it?

if the tank is uneven ,should i try to fix it....would shims be the best solution
to that problem ?

It can cause stress to not be evenly distributed, but I wouldn't worry about 1/4 inch.

Depends on how wide is your tank, 1/4 inch can be significant. For my 5 feeter, it is less than 1/64 inch by the use of shimes on the stand's legs.
