rotifer ?

i bought planctons today. phytoplanctons has no smell. but rotifer-zooplankton smells disgusting. like ps case!
are they smell like that? could they be dead? how can i understand it?

and could they get alive and increase as pyhtoplanctons by the same way(light and air!)? is that simple like that?

Was what you bought supposed to be live cultures cyro? Live cultures probably should not have a bad smell! Are you planning on growing the phyto to feed the rotifers; or are you feeding it directly to your tank?

i am increasing phytos also. i tried before reproducing rotifers by phytos but i could not.
i bought rocault (rotifer food) also to reproduce rotifers. i will try. it is not easy as phytos.

i dont know for smelling, i asked it and the seller says it is normal. but im not sure :roll: because of that i wanna learn any experimentation here..

It could be a fertilizer he is using to culture the phyto in which the rotofiers are I suppose. The only way to be sure they I do have links to some good articles on culturing rotos and phyto if you are interested. I have raised both with some sucess.

I don't know cyro, I really don't without the help of a microscope. You can try to culture them and see what happens.
