I took a medium size rock that my purple Monti cap was on, and cut off the area the monti cap was on and moved the monti cap to a higher lighting, and flow area. The reason being I had one in the higher area and the growth was much more than this one. So, as I did this I did a little amount of damage to some of the polyps. There is a few very small areas along the edges that are white, so I assume they were bumped. Is my Monti doomed?

I also took the remainder part of the rock and broke it into small pieces and used it to frag my pink pulsing xenia... I figured I can use that to trade for salt and stuff at my LFS, since I am flat broke...

Is there still tissue on the colony? If so, Montis have an amazing ability to recover. I wouldn't assume it's dead until it's all white or overgrown with algae ;)

Polyps look great everywhere except for where the spots are that were hit. So to me, it still looks perfectly normal with the exception of a few small white spots where hurt. Does that help?

I've had these things come back from the seemingly DEAD before. Give it plenty of time, light, and flow, and I bet it will be just fine!
