Probably a 3-way tie between my rainbow teardrop, black & white, and A. echinata:

When I first set up my tank, like 8 years ago, I got a tiger watchman goby, basically because I just love goby's. Well, it turnes out a pitsol shrimp hitchhiked in on my LR that I didn't know about and they found each other and formed their little symbiotic relationship. It was great watching them.

Yes, the best way to view clams is from above. This is why I like teardrops and black and whites, as the pattern can be appreciated from many angles,

Yea. It really sucks that something that beautiful cant be enjoyed from the side. It there a reason for this, like does the glass filter out the blue?

Well, since you hijacked your own thread :D

The reason the color changes when you view a clam from different angles is because of the iridophores within the mantle. They're like tiny reflectors within the tissue that directs light at different angles. I'm guessing that because the colors and patterns are most intense when viewed from directly above, it allows the clam to capture as much light as possible.

Right now I would say my Austrialian Delicate. It is getting nice and purple with light blue growth tips and green polyps. Had it two weeks and the polyps are finally comming out. It does not look like much here, but is really nice in person.

Yes it is an ORA piece. I like it to. I hope to get a few "collector" pieces for the tank. I'm really looking to get a blue tort soon.

The light scattering/interference within the iridophores has an angular dependence. Think of it as the actual distance you need to cross a road. It is different depends on at what angle you are crossing it. When view at an angle, the extra "distance" make the reflected light to appear brown ("golden").

I was trying to get better pics for my hitch hiker thread and took these. Neither are rare or LE but I like them alot. The first on has quite a bit of green on the underside.
The second one I paid $5 for almost a year ago as a dieing tan finger about an inch long. It was my first SPS. This is all its grown It is still just over an inch but has colored up real nice. It turns almost red under lower K lighting.

Hey, what is the secret to getting your pics in here without the big fancy border?

When you see a pic you like right click on it and scroll down to properties. Highlight and copy the pics adress. Then when ready to paste it click the Img button above, paste the addy and then click the Img button again. It will look like
