some green hair alge drifted onto my gsp colony and seems to be hanging on
should i try to remove the hair by hand or just wait till it closes at night and see if i can wave it off .
You can do either, in fact I'd do both. Pull what you can by hand and if you have a turkey baster handy you can gently blow water on the colony. It will retract if it is open when you do this so no worries about that.
