No response in the other forum so I'll try here:

I was looking through my fish book and I noticed the yellow longnose butterfly (Forcipiger flavissimus) read to be generally reef safe (the only butterfly that comes even close). Does anyone have any experience with it? Is it true? Or is a butterfly a butterfly?

They do look like flippers to an acute eye.

Brian,

They are more reef safe but not totally reef safe. Long nose butterfly species, whether Forcipiger or Copperbands, tend to eat larger polyps like zoanthiads and sometimes LPS corals. They will also eat tube worms. It's risky, but some people have had good luck.
