coral suggestion

hi all

i have a 26 gallon tank, with a sump and a skimmer, i have live rock rubble in the sump and the overflow pours into filter floss that i change every week,

someone said my tank is going through a mini cycle because i just recently moved all the rock from my big tank into this smaller nano, but my readings are the same they have always been, do u reckon i should be waiting until the diatoms that have bloomed have gone away, my tank must be unstable if im getting them, what do u think?

i put my MH light over the tank a few days ago, i have a small hard coral that sneaked into my tank on a yellow bush i got ages ago,

can anyone suggest a good coral for me to get now that i have the light, something that doesnt require me to put kalk into the water or mess around with the chemistry of the tank, if u know what i mean,
all thats for further on in my hobby days

just something colorfull because everything i have seems to be brown or green and i would love some cool colors in there to make the tank better looking than it already is

If you see any nitrite, you could be experience a rebalancing of the nitrogen cycle. It should go balance out soon.

As for corals, try any LPS coral. These aren't too demanding and won't suck up calcium like SPS corals will. There are lots of extremely colorful LPS corals, like open brains, meat corals, hammers, torches, frogspawns, bubbles, plate corals, etc.

IDK if your ph is effecting any thing (it's not really low I just like it higher IMO) but I like it at 8.3.

But if your looking for corals what Len said is good.

There are lots of extremely colorful LPS corals, like open brains, meat corals, hammers, torches, frogspawns, bubbles, plate corals, etc.

Acans, echinos, hydnos (I still see it as LPS), closed brains, blastos, trumpets, galaxeas, micros, tongue corals, fox corals, elegances, turbinarias, and pagodas can be pretty colorful also!

my ph is fairly low, i recently got a ph monitor and i finaly got an exact reading its 7.88

my ordinary test kits were saying it was 8.2, so it just goes to show what the normal tests kits are like, not very reliable really

do u think the ph is too low for lps

It's on the low side but will be fine. My pH hovers between 8.15 (afternoon) and 7.7 (late night readings).

ye see my ph is actually lower in the day and when the lights are about to go off its up to 8.02

is this right?

is there a way to get it more stable, or will it be fine as it is??

Right before your lights go on it'll be the lowest. And it'll be the highest right before they go off. The PH will increase according to how long the lights are on. One way to control the stability of it is to run a light over a refugium on a reverse cycle so that it's on when your display lights are off. But it might not bring it up the same that it is during the day, though.
