So, it turns out I still have aiptasia

But only in the sump. There's a few totally white/translucent Aiptasia in there but absolutely none in my display tank. I have one peppermint shrimp, so it must be doing its job. I wonder if I should throw a shrimp in the sump too.

I would take your one peppermint and put it in the sump, It couldn't hurt. Much.

Hey, I still have aiptasia too.

But, no need to get rid of aiptasia in the sump. It doesn't reproduce through the water, does it? I would actually consider it beneficial in a natural filter sort of way. Matter of fact, Fenner recommends maintaining 'anemones' in your fuge.

Actually, they do. They reproduce via spores. If you have one in the sump, you have the potential for a plague in the system. I have several peppermint shrimp and they have cleaned my display of even the larger aptasia. I now need to finish my work and nuke the last few in the sump and the overflows. Sounds like youd better get to work to Len. Unless you dont mind being obligated to keep a few reclusive shrimps on hand at all times.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, hopefully there's a baffle or other barrier before your return pump. In fact in the sump they might actually do some good, one last level of filtration... although "a few" is hardly going to make a dent

There's maybe a dozen (I can only count 5, but I'm sure there's more). They're totally lacking in zooxanthalle and have much longer tentacles. I guess I'll throw in a peppermint down there too. The overflow box and tank are Aip free.
