Howdy,

I have an Algae Blenny I've had about a month that appears to be wasting away. When I first got him he seemed quite active and picked at various algaes around my tank. Lately he just perches and seems uninterested in food and has become quite skinny. My tank is a 75G with 110lbs of Tonga rock and plenty of algae. I have tried garlic on Nori, mysis and various pellets and flakes but it can sit right on him and he won't eat. Any suggestions on what I can do to entice hime to eat?

Sometimes fish that scrape/pick for algae if they get an injured mouth they literally will starve to death. I've seen this a couple times with Kole and other bristle toothed tangs, unsure if Algae blennies are the same though. Have you tried any other foods?

Sadly, this is not uncommon for this fish. I just lost my second one. Same situation; plenty of algae, fish eats for the first few weeks then tapers off and wastes away. Neither of mine would accept any prepared foods. I won't get another.

use algae sheets on a clip placed at the bottom. You might even QT and feed him algae sheets since he could be not getting any food if others are eating it.

You might post Pics and water params.
