I just upgraded my lighting to a 150 watt Metal Halide, my question is how do I know if SPS corals are too close to the light? Is there anything to look out for?

Yep. If it gets lighter in color or if the polyps show stress, move it lower. But 150W isn't too much light for most any SPS to acclimate to.

You have to really work to get too much light for most SPS corals, and as Len indicated, you're nowhere close.

In fact, be advised that multiple species will not maintain color even placed right under that light. On the other hand there are plenty that will, so do your research before purchasing.

Don't neglect current, it's perhaps even more important than light, and at worst at least as important.

did you only get one mh or two 150w? i dont think this is enough to bleach any corals but watch for lightening of colors.
