Harlequin with cleaner shrimp?

I am thinking about a harlequin shrimp because I have a bagillion asterinas. Anyone have any advice? Will they fare well with cleaner shrimp?

So, you hate asterinas? I don't mind them as much as the "bagillion" micro dusters! :? Don't know how to get rid of those, though.

By the way, I could be wrong, but harlequins usually only go for 'bigger' stars. I've even heard that some will only go for some stars (i.e. linkias and not serpents - Marc 'Melev' {the sump man} had this experience). Take it with a grain of salt. :wink:

I have my harlequin with my blood (clown) shrimp and everything going swell. My asterina problem is starting not to be a problem. "Harley" is doing a great job cleaning them up. I think it would be okay if you got a harlequin with a cleaner.

Oh yeah, you have to be careful once harlies eradicate your asterina population because they wont have food, so if you want to keep a harlequin for "show" you may want to keep a good supply of asterinas for it

Thanks! I also have a ton of asterinas in my cephalopod system, so keeping up shouldn't be a problem.

Kept tons that way Rich, no problems.

I have seen them eat all types of stars and even brittles so yah, take one persons comments with a large grain of salt. Having handled them in large volumes, I fed them what ever star that was on it's way out. I've seen them grab brittles arms thru cube slots and eat them

Oh the irony Rich! You want the harlequin to take care of the asterinas but once he does you're going to toss more asterinas in to feed it
