Well, I was able to keep my tetraselmis culture pure for almost a year, but now it seems to be over run with protozoans or some funky zoop. Any one know a good source for pure cultures?

We don'f offer live cultures of pure strains, just concentrated paste.

Just the usual suspects really, FAF, AES, and one of my compitors in Florida that can mention his own name (his compteting brand starts with Phyc.....) :)

Are you speaking of Eric? I spent $200 bucks last time I ordered from him. I got a bit greedy but I did get the sexiest red alga on the planet!

The last time I ordered from FAF I got a dead plate.....Once bitten....

So, who is AES?

Does Eric come here? What is his username?

Well, crap. I just realized that now I am talking all covert......so anyone reading this has to wonder waz up?

Erik Stenn (I think I totally mis spelled his name, but I think I am close?) is the CEO of a company called Algagen that has the coolest cultures of unicellular algae on the planet and makes product called Phycopure. He sells like 8 different species, but with s&h, it is kinda pricey. So, when I order from him, I must make the S&H worth it, so I end up ordering a few different species. His red is Rhodomonas and is the most nutritious phytoplankton I've ever researched? He also had diatoms!

FAF is Florida Aquafarms. I have ordered fertilizer from them, but have been disappointed with their algae.

Reed Mariculture has really cool already grown algae! Plus, copepods that grow like crazy when fed their algae. I have had a culture of them for a long time, and fry seem to grow esp good when I have enough pods.

Gresham, do you have Arcatia Tonsa (sp?)

No, I want a new source! A cheap source? Maybe $30 bucks-ish?

I hope Gresham isn't mad at me for mentioning that other guy? I really think Reed has the best copepods and the best copepod food...But, I need a bit of live phyto for fish fry. I use Reeds liquid Phytofeast for my reef and their zooplankton....My tank loves it!

Nah, Gresham is professional, he's not going to be upset with you because you mentioned another product, nor is he going to bash another company just because it's another company.

I am wondering if he would care if I told everyone how easy it is to culture his copepods? I think not, because as it is now, people but one bottle and maybe another a few months down the road, maybe? But, if they had a culture of them, they would have to buy the phytofeast quite regularly? I know I go through that stuff like it's DP......

We are lucky to have a store that carries their stuff! They got a shipment of mysis shrimp in, though and didn't share them.....But, they have a fridge full of yummy stuff from Reed Mariculture!

I like the liquid zooplankton, I forget the name. But, when I feed that stuff, I swear to god the stuff is bigger the next day? My hydnopora love it....

Aquatic Eco Syetems (AES)

Not sure if Erik comes here but I kind of doubt it. He seems to be a bit too busy to be able to post :D

 I would have mentioned him entirelly by name, but I forgot his company name and I didn't want to just post PhycoPure.

I have no problem with mentioning any company or the fact you can propigate the Tigger-Pods as well. In fact, we advertise them as a live culture and supply simple culture instructions with every shipment :)

Another source you may want to try is CCMP. I don't know their prices, but they are the end all be all of phytoplankton.

I saw them on your site, very pricey?

Maybe I will just keep trying to tease your paste alive?

Can I tell you once more how much I love your Phytofeast? So, the stupid fridge in my fishroom has frozen it more than once. It has never hit room temp, but have I damaged it too much to feed out? I have the funkiest pink cucumber I am trying to spoil. (The pods are eating it, of course. I love those things! So, do my seahorse fry!)

Thanks! I am going to post on our local site to make sure everyone knows we have a local source!
