For the third time in 3 years, I have taken a fish out of my qt after 6 weeks of perfect health, put it into my display, and watched the fish make a bee line right into my green bta. The fish that did this today was a twinspot hogfish. The others were a very small blue hippo tang, and then another very small blue hippo tang that replaced first mentioned hippo. Has anyone else ever had any experience like this, or know why it might be happening?

That is bizzaro world. I have absolutely no clue, but it is fascinating.

I have 3 anemones in the tank, but it always the same one that the fish have dove right into. What makes it really odd is that this is a 250g tank, and the anemone is way on the bottom in a rather out of the way spot. I release the fish next the the side of the tank, and somehow they zero in on that thing within 10 seconds and make a bee line for it.

It took my perculas 2 years to find the anemone, but it takes blue hippo tangs and a twinspot hogfish 10 seconds to find it. :(

That is very strange.

How large is the tank and what is the flow like?

It is a 250g with 2 tunze 6100s, a tunze wavebox, a mj mod, and 1k/h return.

I would guess there is a current that the new fish swims against that leads it to its doom.

I'm constantly adjusting my flow. It has been different every time I've added a fish. Of course that's not to say that there hasn't always been someting current going that way. From now on when I add fish I will turn off my tunzes and see if this helps.

Weird. Also maybe add the fish at night?

The first two I added during the day with the lights off, the last one I added at night.
