I finally got my CBB last weekend (Sat). I just happened to be in a LFS at feeding time and I watch it eat really well so I got it. I have been reasearching them for some time and know that can be an issue. It took a two days to settle down in the tank. I was worried it was going to stress out and die. By Monday it was all chilled and cruzing the tank. It ate for the first time in my tank last night. It seams I have the two big hurdles covered.

Who has had these for a while and what should I expect.

I am ashamed to say I had for or five before I finally had one that lived. I was buying them at a local wholesaler and always took ones that appeared healthy. Then one day when perusing the tanks I saw the rattiest looking one, torn fins, all frazzled, picking on the rocks. I insisted on taking that one.

It has lived with me for years. It accepts anything I feed as long as it's small enough to take into the mouth. It does not bother my larger clams (20+" gigas or 5+" derasa) but I think when I put smaller clams in it does pester them some though I have never actually seen it. I only suspect it.

I doesn't utilize my entire tank at all (180) and definitely is mastered by a purple tang. It love to knock snails, especially cerith since their grip isn't that good, off the glass.

What are you using him for??? Aptasia removal??

The reason I ask is that I've always found that Racoon Butterflys usually do a much better job at munching aptasia.

You won't find too much literature on them, for some odd reason (as far as an aptasia removal tool).

However, they LOVE eating stuff. Unfortunately, they love "other" stuff too (like things you DON'T want them to eat). You need a big one (at least 2.5" long).

Every FOWLR tank I've ever had has had a big old fat Racoon in there. For some reason tomato clowns hate them. But they can eat the heck out of some aptasia (which is why they stay so fat).

I am using him as a pet fish. It readly takes mysis so far. It has eaten yesterday and tonight. I see it hunting and pecking at the rocks. I have not sen it pick at any corals nor do my corals look any different.

Mine is doing fine after a week. We will see though. It has not touched an aptasia that I can see. It may, however be cleaning up all the ones in the rocks where it feels safer. I have seen it go after fan worms and other, invisible things in the rockwork. It isn't fat by any means, but it still looks healthy and is cruising my entire 150. We will see what happens after the fan worms run out. I have seen it take mysis at the store, but I am not feeding it mysis yet since I need it to clean up my rockwork of aptasia. They are some beautiful fish though!
