howdy!
how are y'all? my lovely lady and i have been on the road since january. from jan to june i was commuting from miami to NYC nearly every weekend. now it's san fran for the last four weeks, and then its LA...
sounds good? just remember "grass is ALWAYS greener on the other side...." i thought so also.....
but alas- while i was thinking the only thing that really suffered was my sleep deprevation, not knowing what time zone nor climate i was in, or going to be in, i was wrong. very wrong.
for the last 7 months, benjie land has suffered the most. as shown by the photos to follow, i now have bubbly green algae cover all exposed surfaces that are not already covered by thick purple algae. at first, i didn't think to much of it. i had the benjie land nanny cut back on feeding and i created a major storm in the tank and scooped out whatever i could. the sailfin ate the rest.... it all seemed to work.
now we are nearly three weeks later, and the algae went home, got it's entire family and brought them all to reside in my tank.
i don't want to add any more fish as i already feel bad thinking that the sailfin is to big for her tank, and i think my leather is to large as well (baby, i need a bigger tank), but i am thinking about a crab or two, a sand sifting type snail or two, and a few regular glass cleaning snails.
water parameters are as normal as they have been for three years now...
and the water gets changed at the very most every 10-12 days. and they are 10 gallons at a clip in a total system of 45 gallons. however, in the last five weeks it has been no less than every 9 days.
some pictures, and then i'd love to hear any thoughts or experiences any of you may have:
now that i see the photos posted a few notes:
1. the large rock under the star polyps was once a vast forest of polyps
2. the green polyps once upon a time were full, and had very long extending "arms"(?)....
3. you can't really see it in the photo, but just at the bend in the tank where the kenya tree is on the corner of the green polyps, there is purple algae that is not solid, it is almost a purple hair algae....
d. the tank is due for a water change and cleaning tomrw or friday night.....
but i digress....
