ok, so im currently setting up my new tank, just built the stand, getting everything ready to go before its up and running... had a random thought

in this room where im putting this tank, there is a very powerful stereo, its hooked up to my tv, for surround sound, etc

will the bass from the stereo have a negative effect on my fish? never really thought about it til now, but considering i can physically feel the bass at times, i assume they might be able to as well... anyone know?

I think I read a thread here some time back about the bass bothering someone's reef. As I recall, it had a negative impact but can't remember the who posted it.

Sounds logical that it would. I'd keep an eye on what happens to the fish when you crank up the volume, if they freak well there ya go!

I can say when I would close the cabinet doors to rough my clam would close quickly from fear or something. I would vote against the two being so close if at all possible. It would probably be the equivalent to constant earthquakes in the natural realm.

considering the room itself isnt very big, and the majority of the speakers are wall-mounted, if the bass starts bothering the fish, ill just have to keep the volume reasonable 8)
