smelly bucket ?

i got this pickle bucket from work a long time ago when i brought it home i washed it out like 4 times in the restruants dish machine and its been sitting empty with a can ister filter in it i want to use it to hod some ro water but it stilll has a scent of pickles even though its totally clean ,is it ok to use ?

just for safety's sake, i'd go get a regular bucket. They're like 5 bucks. Plus it will never have had any kind of soap in it (like from your machine). IMO, its just not worth the risk...

I would buy a bucket to. Just be patient and in no time at all you will be throwing salt buckets out becuase you will have more than enough sitting around the house.

If you can physically smell the pickle scent in there, then that means there are still molecules of "brine" and the like inside of it. Now whether or not pickling brine is safe for reef tanks I can't answer.

go to a beer and wine making store. They sell 15,29 any size you want. my 15 was $30.

Plastic is porous, so I really wouldn't trust it if it is retaining the smell. Brining solution isn't toxic AFAIK, but I don't expect it is good either

I don't feel the prickle smell will do much, if anything, to the water. Pour some hot water in it, cover it up, and shake a few times. Drain, and if the water does not have any color/odor, it is safe to use.

I used buckets for food (prickle, soy sauce, ice cream, etc.) in the past, and as long as the bucket does not transfer any color or odor to the water it holds, I never have any issue with them.
