With all the testing I've been doing dialing in my Ca reactor I'm almost out of my Elos dKH test kit. That being said, I ordered a salifert (on sale) dKH test kit just to see the difference. The Salifert is way more complicated. Elos is a single bottle. 1 drop = 1dKH.

That being said, my new Salifert kit is giving me readings of 9.3 dKH while the Elos is giving me readings of 8.0, which I've thought was tremendously low given the Ca reactor and adjusting with Randy's 2 part for balence. The Elos kit is only 4 months old. Do test kits typically start providing whacky readings when you get near the end?

Yep, test kits will start being more inaccurate as they age. Reagents don't last forever, although most test kits don't have expiration dates on them :? I'd trust the newer kit, and the more complicated kit ;) (so long as there is no user error). I'd imagine 1 drop per dKH has a high tolerance for error.

I figured as much. I'll retest when I get home today and see if the dKH is the same. It should be. Thanks for your help.
