Are there flatworms that you cannot see? really tiny ones? that kill sps?

At the store I work at...I have to listen to a bunch of bull all day long. You know....pseudo experts....

We have an sps tank that is kinda going through tough times...we think it might be a flatworm problem...yet...i see no flatworms....i have found a red bug or two......maybe this strange flat clear thing...but no classic textbook flatworm.

All the perams check out. The head gets a little squirly 77 to 83 at times.

I think it might be an heat problem thats causing them to STN from the bottom up.

Like it takes about a three weeks for these corals to STN fully, even then there are living parts on it.

Yes, there are (nearly) invisible flatworms that eat Acros. AEFWs or Acro Eating Flatworms. They are transluscent and near invisible. They live in the crevices and recesses of the coral making them very difficult to see. They eat the flesh of the acro and lay their eggs on the dead tissue at the base of the coral or on the plug or LR near it. I am treating my Frag system for them right now as a matter fo fact. You can check out the thread and a few others here http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/sho ... hp?t=28399 if your willing to register as a member.

IT could be AEFW's. Look to see if you can spot lots of little white dots on the coral. This would be where the AEFW's have taken a "bite" out of the coral. If you have spotted one or two red bugs then their are more. Not sure what the result would be if left untreated, but they really stressed my tank out untill I dealt with them.

Thanks for the warning. I'm trying to convince my wife to stop in and get me something on Saturday. The owner usually give me a fair deal, better than I can get here in Houston. Her and the kids are making one last visit before school starts. Soooooo if you see a woman on Saturday with three small kids and no hubby take good care of her.
