Does anyone know of a good skimmer that will hang on the back of an acrylic tank. The lip is pretty big between the back of the tank and the opening. Thanks in advance.
Not off the top of my head, but I did see a Remora for sale on RC that someone had cut the original outlet off and put a larger one in its place. Of course you have to have a little DIY skill, but it shouldn't be too difficult.
Thanks all. It's a 90 FOWLR. Still in the planning stages, though.
The funny part is that I have a brand new remora pro sitting in the garage (that has been there for 3 years) from an old project that never came to fruition.
Not sure I want to put a pump in the tank, so I'm still not sure that I'd do an HOT skimmer, but was kind of curious about options. If you do end up selling it, please let me know. Thanks again.
I had had two skimmers modified for a 90 gal with thick acrylic "lip." Both involve adding additional extension so that the water can pour back into the tank and way to attach to the powerhead.

Thanks. Which skimmers were you able to do this with? Some have hard acrylic shelves to go over the lip (like the remora) which seem like they'd be more difficult. The red sea berlin looks like it could be modified with simple extensions, but it's tough to tell without actually holding the thing in hand.
actually, you might be able to use an aquamedic turbofloater. it has a somewhat adjustable water release apparatus and pretty long exhaust pipes, however, a pump must sit in the water.
Mr. X -- thanks. Is there any HOT skimmer, other than the cheaper prizm, where the pump doesn't need to sit in the water? I'd love the pump to be external, but it doesn't look like there are too many where that can happen. The remora uses a mag or rio in the water, right?
you might be able to use an in-line skimmer. sit it on the floor or somewhere close and pipe water to it, and then back via return pump. i think that might be a better choice. then you don't need to worry about the lip anymore.
