The second Whale Shark at the GA Aquarium was euthanized today. Second of the two originals. Sad day in GA.

They already had two new ones on the way.

I think they arrived the day before this one died.

My Instant Ocean t-shirt that proclaims "even Ralph and Norton swim in it too" doesn't make the endorsement that they were hoping it would.

Man that sucks, sometimes I wonder about the ethics of stuff like this, it's like getting great white sharks... why? To study why they can't live in captivity? Who cares why they shouldn't be in captivity EVER. Is it just to have a really neat "attraction" if so then they should shut down the Ga. Aquarium. Is it for some other scientific reason? How about they study these things at sea?

Ever notice how something that feeds on small things like krill or phytoplankton is hard to keep alive?
Great White Sharks are at the complete opposite of that spectrum, and they're hard too. Basically don't keep huge fish in tanks that are woefully too small to house them.

I think when they set the thing up... they were in way too much of a hurry. No telling what the underlying problem is here.

No there are a total of 4 now. To females and two brand new males that arrived right before norton passed. I have seen them both and have a appointment for the 1st to see the new ones.
