My white star polyp which once was all over the tank is now dying. Going on for about a two months. All parameters are within norm ranges (except for nitrate which is spiking a little because of the dying polyp)

Strange thing is that everything else is thriving...xenia, mushroom, cabbage leather, toadstool!

I have had people tell me to add magnesium which I have never had to before since it is the salt mix, and the elements that I put in. Told that I should not have changed all of my bulbs on my light all at once that the corals are burned and to move it lower in tank but it is affecting polyps all over the tan. And I have checked my phospates.

Anybody have any ideas, I am getting desperate. I am afraid that other things are going to start dying.

thx,
Karen

I have a 75 DAS.

Hi Karen, have you tested for phosphate? I do recall having some tank problems in the past where my phosphate rose and my star polyps receded and declined. If it is affecting them all over the tank, that sure sounds like a water quality issue. If I were you I would do a few significant water changes in case you have a buildup of something that is bothering them. A series of water changes usually starts to turn around mystery issues like these for me.

:D what LauraD said, look to water quality whenever things take a slow decline.
