I know that the fuzzy dwarf lion uses its fins to coral its prey into a corner. When they go into hunting mode, they use their fin to corner the prey. They also wave their fins and spines to appear like their surroundings.

so the vibrating probally doesnt mean anything then and i also notice the it doesnt go after the silverside fish when i pu them in there it just stays in the same spot and my snowflake eel goes and eats them

or, you could just let him eat your damsel and firefish, which he'll eventually eat anyway

is it a juvenile? It takes them time to adjust. Mine hid and didn't eat for 2 weeks. Even when I offered him live ghost shrimp he wouldn't eat. I've had him for 2 months now and I got him eating frozen food just recently. He begs for food all day.

Also when feeding, stop feeding when you see a little belly. They don't know when to stop eating and can die from overeating.

Also what kind of lionfish? Volitans get huge

I just recently got him eating frozen. Just frozen krill right now. I'll eventually mix it up with squid, pieces of fish or what not. I was quite concerned the first 2 weeks, but he was a juvenile. They act that way I guess. Just give him time

I don't know what kind of stores are available in your area. Cheapest place to get ghost shrimp for me is at Petco. About 50 cents per... and since he's a juvenile one a day or every other day is fine. I fed the ghost shrimp to make them more nutritious.

here's a good link if you've never seen it...

Vitz is RIGHT the lion fish and the snowflake will eat the other fish. Like everyone said the LR is up to you and the lighting is on what you do with the tank.

* the fire fish will go first

Yea i would just give your friend your fish because the lion will eat them eventually. probably sooner than later.... Then I would try some ghost shrimp

really i thought that because the lion fish is alot bigger that the eels mouth and that it was venomous that the eel wouldnt bother it but do u think a 10 inch eel would try to eat a 7 inch lion fish? .... they have a full grown lion and full grown snowflake together in a tank at the aquarium adventure in cleveland and they have had them in there for a few months and they said the eel only tried to bite it once because they were feeding it live fish and one swam towards the lion and the eel mistook them and bit it and the lion stung it, they were both fine after but they never had a problem since

wrasser is right. It's possible, but as long as you keep the eel fed the chances are reduced. I'm not exactly sure how eels behave once they're matured...

I wouldn't be too worried about the snowflake bothering a lionfish unless the eel is very big and the lion is tiny. As mentioned - keep him well fed.

I had a snowflake moray, spiny puffer, spotfin lion and a picasso trigger in the same tank for years with no problems (IIRC it was a 75 gallon).
