I bought a cabbage coral for my tank about 3 weeks ago. In the shop tank the coral looked really good.It cost my £30(approx $45) and it came on a masive piece of LR. Since it has been in my tank it has not fully opened up. It is not fully closed up and it is still a deep golden colour. It is high up in my tank underneath the powerhead. It is not in the directpath of the flow but there is still some water movement. I was wondering if it is just taking time to aclimatise. It is just that all the other corals in the tank have not taken this long to adjust. It is not showing any signs that it is shedding it skin yet. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this, my LFS has said that if it does not change they will put it back in there tank and see how it goes. I have said that i want to keep it in my tank for the time being.

Do you by any chance know if this is Sinularia dura? That is what I know to be the cabbage leather coral.

Leather corals such as the cabbage leather do take a while to open up, but three weeks is too long.

I would put more direct flow on this coral and see if it improves. I have found that sad leather corals almost always perk up with more water flow.

I am not completely sure, there is water movement around the coral, the problem is that the piece of LR that it is attached to is large and it is in the only place in the tank that it can fit without aquascaping the tank again.
