It is a downdraft skimmer and a local guy is selling it pretty cheap and I thought it might work for the new 210G. :D

Here's a picture:

He said that it came off of a 300G system and can be run on a mag 9, but it's designed to be running at about 1200GPH. Also, it is 46" tall.

Can anyone comment? If nothing else, what do you think of downdraft skimmers? :D

Thanks!!!

P.S. I hope to at the very least hear from Ben (LA-Lawman) on this. ;)

Never used, but downdrafts are big and inefficient (and noisy) by design. I've had a few downdrafts in the past. If it were me, I'd go with a good ol' needle wheel :)

Ah, ok. :D I have a ASM G3 that I'm making recirculating and meshwheel. I've heard reports from people using it on large tanks but I wasn't sure. I guess I'll just have to try it out. :P

The downdrafts are real noisy. and require some heavy duty pumps to really get them to work. the G3 with the meshmod will do you fine....

the meshwheel will give you like a 40% boost in air. just take a drill bit and bore out the air inlet just a tad....

the skimmer will look like you stuffed a white poodle in it... I modded my sedra 9000 and i had to slam the output adjustment down 4 or 5"s... WOW
