Here I have a few links to some suggestions on a phosphate reactor and I now know that I will be able to place most of these either in a sump or HOB of the sump, not HOB of the tank itself. I like to see if any here can add to the type of selection I now have and I will need a phosphate reactor for three tanks, a 150 plus a 65 gal sump and a 180 plus a 50 gal tank and a 240 with plus a 100-125 gal sump. Also if anybody here know of where i can buy both phosphate and calcium media in as large a bucket I can get. I know this isn't cheap buy by buying it so large I not would need to buy them so often.

Buddy, sorry can't help you much in this area. I wanted to thank you again for all your advice. Everything is doing well. I have read your struggles with your reef tank, and I hope all is resolved.

With all your preparations and effort I know it will be a magnificent tank. Good luck

Young man, all in due time well be operational and I will as well get what I best need in the tanks equipment for the struggles I had were all due to Jeff of fish world in the sloppy methods he setup the 240 and placed the wrong lighting on both the 180 and 240. But I am resolving this issue with no thanks to Jeff of fish world and these tanks will begin if not in the next month or so, by the end of the year or few weeks into the new year, only I be waiting for my new QT for corals being that I spent all i could till this time of the year and will have to wait until im done with a number of things and with Xmas coming. Im not worried that this tanks will not look like something, but rather if I will be around to enjoy them for a good number of years. I mean, after all im not in the very best of health here>

Hey buddy,

I've looked into the phosphate media and unless you are looking to buy $500 or more of it, your best bet is going to be www.twopartsolution.com . As for calcium media, I have just been getting scrap coral fragments that come in with shipments of live rock at the local fish stores. I'd like to hear others opinions on this, but it has seemed to work for me and is a lot cheaper than buying that fancy packaged stuff. It does take a little washing and crushing of the bigger pieces, but seems to work well.

Off the subject, have you been to any of the frag swaps here in the area. They are a great way to meet a lot of other reefkeepers around here. I 'm interested in checking out your setup some time. Let me know when you get things going and I'll hook you up with a few frags to get you going.

OK people, this is what I will be going with that after the end of the year I will order first from Deltec a calcium reactor, PF501 for $651.00 and later on after that I then will get two FR509 phosphate reactors for $444.50 and at the same time of buying the phosphate reactors I will then also be changing the 180 gal reef tanks lighting over to 250 watt MH. And then in time, much later I will then get the APF 600 skimmer for $885.00. In due time as the years go on, I would had then changed over completely to Deltec and for the 240 gal tank when ever it be im ready to rebuild this tank, I will if not go through the cost for a new stand, I would then be getting the AP702 for $1,851.00 for which I still would be getting if I had the proper stand, would had a skimmer that cost $1,000 or more and the stand would cost far more then $800 meaning that I might as well go with the AP702 skimmer when getting ready to start the 240 gal reef tank.

I know everybody, crazy prices> But you cannot argue with wanting to buy the best one can get for their money and yes, I been more then enough with my patience and delays in starting these tanks, but it is about to happen even if the wait goes on for just until after the start of the new year.

Thanks for those who assisted in my search :D

And brandonberry, Thanks for the link :D

While I've always been one to be skeptical about brand name price = quality (Tunze is a good example, totally kick ass on their pumps, skimmers though? I mean really a tunze skimmer? ahem.. sidebar :D) But that's pretty pricy for a phosphate reactor (2 of them even).. is there something special about them? A phosphate reactor as far as I know is simply a tube which holds phosphate absorbing material (phosban, rowaphos, etc) and allows the water to go through a slow rate..

Yes, pricy it is and the phosphate reactor not has to be so pricy that I could go with the $40-50 reactor, but also I want it to hold as much media it can for im a very busy person when it comes to my grandchildren and im with them everyday just about, I bath them everyday as well and not without having argument with them on who is first, second and third.

Their dad last night after i was done giving them their baths says that his sorry im having a hard time of it and I said that its all part of the cycle in life. I do have to battle somewhat with the kids for they do learn each time that I will not be a push over and that they try to look to see just how far they could go in their methods of testing me. My five year old granddaughter in this case, is the worst off when im telling her to stop and she grins like its nothing, I first then warn her and if she not listen then I give her a first mild spank and just with that, she goes on a crying towel routine. Sometimes their really out of hand, but those days are becoming fewer.

But there is any number of skimmers and reactors to work for me here, but I need to set myself on what I will have on my tanks and yes, there can always be something that not works so well in which case I spoken directly to Doug and they give a whole year protection plan on their equipment that if something not works as it should, I need to ship it back to them and then they send me a new one.
