Weird Niger Trigger Behaviour

I have a Niger Trigger that has been digging in the sand and hiding in rocks for the past 4 weeks. It does not swim it just prys itself into a rock or burys itself in the sand (can be out in the open) and then acts like its dead. It has not eaten or swam in this time. If you touch it the fish swims off and then hides in another place. It is digging holes all over the tank doing this. Anyone have any thoughts or ideas? The fish has perfect color and does not look emaciated. It is about 4" big.

He sounds scared of something, is there some reason there woud be more movement than usual near your tank that could be freaking him out?

Did he swim about normal in the tank before the four weeks of hiding?

Nothing has been added/changed in the tank in over a year.

No new furniture or movement outside of the tank. He would swim around 24/7 before and would eat out of your hand.

I will test the water tonight. All of the other fish and corals are perfect. It is really odd.

How large is your tank?

Trigers do like to jam themselves into holes in rocks, but usually only at night or when frightened. What else is in the tank with it?

And it's a long shot, but has your tank temperature risen in the last four weeks? Is your water quality good?
