Hey Guys,

I'm getting back into the hobby after a 3 or 4 year absence.
I bought a Blasto frag last week. I fed it frozen Mysis.

My questions are, how often should I feed it?
Should I soak the Mysis in anything to add nutrients?

Should Ricordia be fed as well?

Thanks

:welcome:

You can feed both, but I found my Blastos didn't really enjoy feedings. Besides, my shrimps would get to the food first ;) I would think feeding once a week is plenty. I don't soak my corals' foods, but I do enrich my fish food at times with selcon or vitamins.

Ricordeas can be fed, but they grow quickly without feedings too. I never bothered feeding them either. I found they were pests when they start growing like crazy.

If you can get your blastos to feed, feed them as often as you can and they will grow like crazy. Mine typically don't have a very good capture mechanism (for either wellsi or merletti species) so I don't get the chance to feed very often.

Would I soak the food? Nah.. I don't buy the whole "Garlic helps fish" argument to start with, so I can't imagine why corals would care about anything like that.

Never tried feed my rics though, mostly due to the tank their in.

i feed my ricordia. i had a nice 2-tone ric that wouldn't grow much, until i started target feeding it with a mix of misis, DT's reef blend, and cyclop-eeze. it has since tripled in size and has split. i highly recommend shutting down the powerheads and feeding them. i feed every other day for the most part.
