I have a T. derasa clam that is a fairly new addition to my reef. It is sitting in the sandbed, with a flat piece of rock directly under it. The clam is attached to the rock as soon as I put it in there and is responding to light/shadows and appears to be healthy. Well I just noticed a "spot" on its tissue that seems to have no pigment. Can't really tell what it is, and what can I do to fix it? Or should I not worry about it? I have two other clams (T. crocea and T. maxima) that are doing very well. Just don't know what's happened to my T. derasa. Picture below. The spot is on the left hand side of the clam. Thanks for the help.

It is common for clam to have these spots. As long as the clam is otherwise healthy, and the spot does not change, I would not worry about it.

If you are really particular about these blemish... maybe bring it to local tat shop? :D

I have the same clam and mine developed white spot/ no pigment over like 20% of its body. Over a two week period almost all the color came back. I dont know what caused it, but i've had the clam for over three years, and this was the only time i had an issue. The spot on yours seems really small, so i wouldent worry too much.

i always get worried about my clams. they, imo, are the most beautiful additions to a tank.

thanks for the info. i've reposition the clam so that it is sitting more straight up. it's always done fine, just got a little worried there for about a day or two.
