Any tip?
I am concerned that substantial daily water changes might end up hurting the fish - I am now quaranrining a 4" long Naso Tang in a 10 gallons tank (with one rock from the display tank and a Seaclone skimmer for circulation) and NH3 is at 0.3

I just use a hydro sponge filter in my qt tank. To seed it I'll take a gravel vac and suck some detritus from my sand bed in my main tank. I then soak up all that dirty water into the sponge filter and quickly place it in the qt tank. It's like an instant bio-filter.

Sponge filter, Power filter, cannister filter... lots of choices!

However, with a 4" tang in a 10g tank you might be overwhelming what a single rock can do. The daily water changes won't hurt. Do them as long as you have an ammonia reading and a fish in the tank.

Daily water changes won't hurt as long as you are careful to have the same SG, Ph, etc. The way I used to do it was to take water from my main tank to use as change water and put the fresh made SW back into the main as a replacement. That way the Qtank was very stable.
