the color temperature is completely wrong for corals. the hydroponics folks don't even use halogen for plants.
while were on the alternate lighting issue, i wonder how xenon would work?
you can purchase xenon headlights in 10 and 12k.

Color may be right, but isn't there a blue filter on the x?

either way, xenon is very inefficient, so you will pay in term of electricity in the long run.
