...so now that eductors have been around the hobby for a few years, what are peoples' experiences/opinions that have used them?

I'm considering switching out the return pump on my 180 to something pressure rated (Iwaki or PanWorld) and putting a couple of these on the outlets to get extra flow...

i use it and it works great. no problems or drawbacks i can tell, the flow is increased and the flow is more spread out.

My honest advice? Only use it if you have a long (48" or longer) tank. They definitely do what they claim to do, but tend to produce concentrated high velocity streams at the outlet and can do some damage if its richocheting off the far wall of a short tank.

they work better if used with pressure rated pumps. good high flow, but very concentrated and "sharp". just don't point them at any corals. they'll do some long term damage that way.

I used them the whole time I had my 300G. They work very well.

This is true. I did drill out the hole in the nozzle a little bit to stop it from being so concentrated close up. Worked great.

I have two in my 150 pointed down behind the rocks and they do a great job. You can see the induced flow sucking stuff into the inductor.

I can't say about the ones you buy, however, I ones I have made have produced a definite improvement in the flow of my 120. I am not using a pressure rated pump; however, my eductors are not engineered to perfection , they just give me a good boost in flow.

i have some pacific coast eductors and well they actually work to good in my 3x3 cube! they blew my sand away from 3 corners and one whole bottom edge of my tank. sand is now piled up and on top of my rock :( not live sand yet so its okay. also its so strong that it is creating small surface twisters and sucking sir from the surface down and blowing it through the eductor! it makes a loud sound like if you were siping through a straw and you reached the bottom of your drink (slurping noise).
any suggestions on what i can do ? maybe i should split the exits into 4 and have two normal exits and two eductors- what do you think?

Remove the sand and get the eductors lower under the water, sucking air is usually a sign that they are too high up.

Drill a small whole nearer the surface of the water and that will break the siphon when the water level drops. Drill two for when one blocks.
