Actually those look kind of orange to me. If its just the one colony you might try doing a strong iodine dip. Some have been successful with it. Its worth a shot

yup, red bugs. if it is only affecting one colony, then yank it out of there and either iodine dip or quarantine in a separate tank/container. if you find bugs all over everything, you could try using interceptor. it's a dog flea medicine, but it kills red bugs. you could research it more on reefcentral...they have all kinds of formulas there on exactly how much of it to use.

but beware...if you use interceptor, you'll lose all of your pods and a bunch of crabs.

Looks like RB's to me. If they are on one colony, they are in the tank. Time for some interceptor.

Actually it is a heartworm medicine, only availible by percription or through your vet if you have a dog. You will possibly loose crabs, shrimp and pods. Your fish and corals will be unaffected.

You will need the 50-100 lb dog size pills, half a pill will treat a 120 gallon tank.

Crush up the pill till it is a fine powder
Disolve in warm DI water
Turn off skimmer and remove carbon and what not
Dump crushed pill in tank
Leave pumps on and let in system 6-8 hours. You will not see the red bugs dieing until about the 5th hour.
turn skimmer back on
perform large water change 20% or more

repeat two more times at 5 day intervals.

2nd Wazzel on both posts. I have tryed alternative methods in the past such as removing colonies, etc. only to have them return several weeks later. I once even removed every acro from my tank for a month and treated them in a seperate tank w/ Intercepter. I know the acros were bug free, however after returning them to the main display, they were again covered in 2-3 weeks. I really think treating the whole display is the only surely successful method. The best thing you could do is set up a little side tank for all your shrimp, crabs, and even seed it with some pods. Once you are conviced you have caught everything and have enough pods to reseed your main tank, proceed with treatment.

I have removed the coral from the tank and I am treating with interceptor.

One last try before treating the tank.

AH CRAP.

I just read this post and realized I left the coral in a cup of water on top of my tank. SON OF A ______.

By the time I get home tonight I guarantee it will be toast.

But I guess the red bugs will be to.
