I have had nitrates in the 15-20 range for some time now. I do water changes every 2 weeks, for a while there every week (25%). I have been told that perhaps I feed too much, I cut back, and fish look thin. So, for 160 gal, (3) tangs 4-5", skipper dragonet (2"), lawnmower blenny (3"), firefish, (2) chromis -2", shrimp goby, (3) shrimps, 10" clam, (2)sand sifter stars, 12 snails. How much to feed, and how often? Give it to me in terms of frozen cube size, even though I feed other things, it will give me an idea. Also, how much Seaweed Selects should I hang daily- I/4 sheet, 1/2 ???

Idealy, feed them what they can eat up in 30 seconds, and do this 2-3 times a day.

The idea is that the fish eat all the food and none of it goes floating off to rot in your tank. As long as this is happening, you're not overfeeding.

If your fish gorge themselves so much that they lose interest in food, you're feeding to much at once.

I would imagine you could use 1 whole cube of frozen without too much trouble. Feed them some, put it in the fridge, feed them again in a few hours.

I don't know the size of a Seaweed Selects sheet, but I use a peice of sushi nori that is about the size of 3-4 postage stamps for about half the fish population.

Well I have found that one of those frozen food cubes can feed A LOT of fish. I had 2 chromis + bleny and a quarter of that cube was too much.

One way to decrease the pollutants when you feed frozen food is to thaw it in saltwater from the tank in a small container prior to feeding. Once thawed, put it in a fine net and rinse with more SW. This helps to flush away excess liquified gack which would otherwise get in the tank.
