Hey all.. I've got a 29 gallon reef, established for about 1 year now. I have one maroon clownfish, one neon goby, and a (false) lemonpeel angel in the tank.

I added the angel about a month ago.. as of late his has become quite dominant, holding the maroon down into a corner. I don't understand this, since the maroon is the same size, if not a little bigger, and quite evil.. he could tear that angel up if he wanted to.

I've had the clown for about 2 years, he was quite sick when I got him but with lots of treatments he recovered and has been healthy since, so I'm pretty attached to him despite his constant attacks on my hand if I'm working in the tank.

What are my options here? Should I get rid of the angel? Is there another fish I can add that would break things up / distract the angel?

A larger tank is not an option at the moment.

I like peaceful tanks, and in fact torn down my cichlid tank due to their aggressive 'kill each other' nature. It's not a relaxing scene at all. Thanks for any advice.

The clown is seen as competition by the angel, and it can easily tear her up. Honestly, I would remove the angel, a 29 is really very, very small for an animal that naturally patrols a rather large area of reef. Clownfishes are much more suited to smaller systems because of their habits.

Thanks for your reply. I figured with the amount of rockwork I have that the angel would be satisfied.. never counted on it harassing the clown, figured it would be the other way around if anything.

Moving the angel to another tank today till I figure out what to do with it.
