I am planning on buying some live rock from someone
and they say that the rock may have ich that stays in the
rock from fish that had ich is this possible and should I not buy as it may cause me grief down the road by giving my fish ich.
I have no fish in the tank it is a new setup I would like the rock for filtration I am in no rush the rock can sit for some time before I add fish. Also should I put it in the main tank or in a rubbermaid tub.
i like curing it in a separate bin. alot of junk falls off of the rock as it's curing, and you don't want that stuff in youre tank. you are just going to have to end up siphoning it out anyway.[/url]
Since your in no rush anyhow Mr. X and the others are right about just recuring it in a seperate bin for awhile.
When fish in a tank have ich part of the parasites life cycle they fall off the fish (Trophont stage) and would land on the sand and rock so it would be possible to infect your tank this way.
I would just throw it in a rubbermaid with a heater and a large powerhead fro a while.
