Running / using carbon

Currently I fill up one of those nylon bags with carbon and stick it in the sump underneath the over flow and change it every 3 -4 weeks.

Would any of you suggest that I buy lets say a Whisper 5 filter used typically for FW that now comes with a compartment for 2 -4 carbon filter cartridges. Aside from convienience is there any other benefit such as additional water surface movement or being able to rotate and change a filter cart. once a week thus ensuring new / clean carbon on a weekly basis?

I would stick to the carbon bag over the Whisper hang on filter. Only worthwhile if you change over to a reactor type setup.

You could just use a phosban reactor. Might even be cheaper then the whisper filter.

I would pick up a phosban reactor if you wanted to upgrade your carbon usage.

House of Fish (vendor here on MR) is selling a twolittlefishies phosban reactor, media, and a pump. I'm picking mine up next week to run phosban and carbon in it. Check their thread on it. Cheapest price if you're picking it locally, you save on shipping from the online vendors.
